During my PhD and postdoc, I worked heavily with cytometry and the generation of new microscopy techniques to better understand and research the immune system. Through this work, I developed a keen interest in developing novel technical approaches; in particular, utilising novel cytometry and imaging techniques to answer research questions. I now fulfil this intertest as the Academic Specialist within the Cytometry node of the Materials Characterisation and Fabrication Platform, The University of Melbourne. As well as assisting researchers with their research and instrument training, my work at the MCFP is heavily focused on the development of novel mass cytometry and imaging mass spectrometry/cytometry techniques to better study biological, chemical and material samples.
