How the transcription factor PLZF directs acquisition of innate effector programs (#8)
The transcription factor PLZF is critically involved in the development of NKT cells and other innate-like lineages including MAIT cells and some gd T subsets. PLZF is also essential during development of innate lymphocytes, particularly ILC2. Using biotinylation-based ChIP-seq, we identified the main targets of PLZF in NKT thymocytes and show that PLZF exerts direct and indirect effects on multiple effector genes. The results account for the developmental acquisition of effector programs in many innate and innate like populations.
